OK, Twins defeat aside (It's OK, Chicago is losing, too) we had a debate tonight. Your preferred talking heads will surely be able to offer their opinions, but the best consensus seems to be that this was a tie. Obama did better in grabbing hold of the economic issue and spoke knowledgeably on foreign policy. McCain was more forceful and practiced the political tactic of repeating phrases to drive them in for the cable news analysts. No one got iconic lines. Network news editors will determine the "winner" in how they select soundbites. Obama did get good digs in during the first hour showing fundamental differences between him and McCain on the fundamental problems with the Bush/McCain invasion of Iran. McCain spoke to older voters with great authority.
Here we go.
