Moving pictures: My first vLog goes national

I wrote last month about my invitation to join PurpleStates, a public policy project that is collecting viewpoints and reports about the national economy and sharing them in short video segments. They found a blogger from each of the 50 states and are running their vLogs over a 50-day period. I was selected as Minnesota’s blogger and today is my day.

Check out PurpleStates.tv
. I will embed my video here later on. Check out the broad viewpoints and background of the other bloggers while you’re over there. It’s been a fascinating project.

UPDATE: Below is the embedded video from PurpleStates.tv. They did a good job condensing a whole lot of bloviating on my part, but someone (me) needs to work on shooting his b-roll. B-roll is harder than you think! Also, my choice of b-roll inadvertently made the Iron Range look like some kind of Mad Max hellscape, which was unintentional.

UPDATE II: Yes, I know they misspelled “Hibbing.” I kind of like “Hibbling,” though. Bling!

  1. But at least you made the effort to shoot “B” roll. My first rule of “B” roll: You can never shoot too much “B” roll!”
Hibbling? I grew up thinking it was spelled Hibbene.

  2. Nice Job Aaron!
BTW, Obama uses “ahhhh” way more than you and he is supposedly the worlds best orator.

  3. nice work. i think you might have a future in front of the camera.
