Janatopoulos first to announce run for Rukavina seat

Over the next few days I’ll be sharing candidate announcements in the race to succeed retiring Rep. Tom Rukavina in a key Iron Range state House seat. The DFL endorsing convention will be held Saturday, May 19, and it remains to be seen how many candidates will run and whether they will honor the endorsement conferred then. The first candidate to announce is my good friend from the Eveleth area, Lorrie Janatopoulos.

Lorrie Janatopoulos, lifelong resident of northeastern Minnesota announced her candidacy for State Representative for House District 6B.

“This election is about jobs, education and ensuring the future for the Iron Range we love,” said Janatopoulos.

“Tom Rukavina has been a tireless advocate for our district. He brought his heart and soul to work every single day. These times continue to require hard work, dedication and commitment. I bring years of experience in designing solutions, developing resources and making things happen for seniors, low-income children and the working poor, as Planning Director at AEOA, the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency.

“For over 30 years, I have also served my community through volunteerism – from coaching little league to leading nonprofit boards. As a lifelong Democrat, I will bring my experience, passion and belief in people to St. Paul to work for you as your State Representative.”
