Customers, everyone! Customers!

What if a small town was bypassed by a major freeway years ago? What if the town's downtown went through a long period of struggle as a result? What if the town got one more chance at its past glory when a bunch of cars came through because of something big and important? And what if those cars could talk!
Hold up. I went one too far. That was the plot of the Pixar movie "Cars." I was actually referring to the six-month detour on Highway 169 that will send virtually all cross-Range traffic through downtown Chisholm. None of these cars (should) talk.

It will be interesting to see what difference it makes. There may be people who discover that Chisholm has a quilt store. It is so much easier to make a last minute decision to stop at a store when driving slowly. I take a different road through Chisholm and I haven't yet found the grocery store. Where is it?

It's south of the main street by about a block. I think it's on the same street as all the churches. I can't recite Chisholm addresses like I can Hibbing ones. Anyone have specifics?

I predict more DWI's and furniture sales rising. First your wife will make you impulsively buy furniture at Rupp's, and then there are only thirteen or so bars to make up for the couch she just bought.

The grocery store is one block south of the main drag and is about half way between the top and bottom of the hill.
How's that for specifics?
I shop there every couple weeks and I still don't have specifics.

I actually did buy an easy chair in Chisholm one time because I saw the store when I was stopped at the stop sign. I'm not even sure that the furniture store is still there. That chair isn't still here either.

We live in Chisholm in the summer and love the shops on main street. The Variety store does have quite the variety. Anytime I need something at the last minute, they've got it.
The quilt store really does have beautiful fabrics. (psst Joanne's is junk, buy quality in Chisholm.)
Need a gift, check out Up North Sundries.
Mmmmm The Stand, Choppy's Pizza, Valentini's, The Rock, 2 liquor stores . . .
The library is so cute. Chisholm also has a chiropractor, a couple dentists & a clinic.
Even the nursing home is really nice.
Chisholm is an overlooked gem. I'm so happy that it gets a little hurrah this summer.
